Following a rare week off from quizzin' last week, Ryan was back to host at the Duke of Devon on Saturday night, as Sheboygan's finest once again came out in droves to tackle the drinkin' and thinkin' challenge.

It was a fairly competitive affair in the end, especially with a special wager bonus round featuring to boost the night's score by 10 points.

As usual, the best team name prize was hotly contested, but the lovely duo from Pippa's Red Hot Harry Ass snapped up the $10 prize....

The top of the standings saw two trivia juggernauts lock horns, with the twosome of We're looking for dockside recording 47 points, enough for second place. But at the top of the pyramid were regulars from Aunt Jemima and her sweet sticky squirtz, who were delighted with yet another win...

They may have had a shout for best team name had they not won the quiz too!

Kevin H. is gonna be stepping in again this Saturday to host, as QM Ryan is running the Green Bay half marathon on Sunday morning! Aargh - his sentiments exactly!

Until next time Sheboygan, drink while you think...

Wilma Flintstone (née Slaghoople see below) is a fictional character in the television animated series The Flintstones. She was the red-headed wife of caveman Fred Flintstone, daughter of Pearl Slaghoople, mother of Pebbles Flintstone and a grandmother. Her best friends are her next door neighbors, Betty and Barney Rubble.

Wilma's personality is based on that of Alice Kramden, wife of Ralph Kramden on the 1950s television series The Honeymooners. Thus, much like Alice, Wilma plays the strong-willed, level-headed person in her marriage, often criticizing Fred for pursuing his various ill-fated schemes. Wilma will also often be the one to bail out Fred when one of his schemes land him in trouble.

Wilma's maiden name is the subject of a continuity error. Several early episodes in the original series clearly stated Wilma's maiden name was "Pebble." In the second season episode "The Entertainer", Wilma's old friend Greta Gravel remembers her as "Wilma Pebble".

However, later episodes and spin-offs firmly state her maiden name is indeed "Slaghoople," based upon the name of Wilma's mother in the original series, Pearl Slaghoople. Flintstones' writer Earl Kress explained the discrepancy as [Hanna-Barbera] not caring about the continuity, but other staff writers have said in various other interviews, that, as Richard Pebble had died before Wilma was a teenager, Pearl had to remarry in order to provide for her children, the youngest of which was still in grade school. Subsequently, it is said that Slaghoople adopted the three girls, giving them his last name before he too died when Wilma was a young adult.

There was a full house at the Duke of Devon Pub in Sheboygan this past Saturday as QM Kevin stepped in for regular host Ryan.  The scoring on the night was close, as all 11 teams were within 6 points of each other.  Only three teams would break the 40 point barrier however, and sudden death would be required to determine first and second place.

With two teams tying at 41 points, sudden death would ask:

In which year was the world's first adhesive postage stamp, the Penny Black, issued in the United Kingdom?

Rabies Babies answered: 1892
Donde esta el bano? Or, Put the balls in the mouth and hmmmmm... answered:1805

The correct answer was 1840 meaning that Donde esta el bano? Or, Put the balls in the mouth and hmmmmm... would take the $25 first place prize on the night.  Congrats folks!

Rabies Babies would not go home empty handed though, as they would take the $15 second place prize...
Great job!

Finally, the $10 prize for best team name would go to I like my women like I like my coffee... ground up and in the freezer....
All we can say to the female team member is be careful!

Thanks to everyone who stopped out on the evening.  QM Kevin had a great night visiting!
Until next time Milwaukee, drink while you think...

John Dillinger
Was shot and killed by FBI agents in 1934
after attempting to flee following a movie
at Chicago's Biograph Theater

John Herbert Dillinger, Jr. (June 22, 1903 – July 22, 1934) was an American bank robber of German descent in the Depression-era United States. He was charged with, but never convicted of, the murder of an East Chicago, Indiana police officer during a shoot-out. This was his only alleged homicide. His gang robbed two dozen banks and four police stations. Dillinger escaped from jail twice.

In 1933–34, seen in retrospect as the heyday of the Depression-era outlaw, Dillinger was the most notorious of all, standing out even among more violent criminals such as Baby Face Nelson, Pretty Boy Floyd, and Bonnie and Clyde. Media reports were spiced with exaggerated accounts of Dillinger's bravado and daring and his colorful personality. The government demanded federal action, and J. Edgar Hoover developed a more sophisticated Federal Bureau of Investigation as a weapon against organized crime and used Dillinger and his gang as his campaign platform to launch the FBI.

After evading police in four states for almost a year, Dillinger was wounded and returned to his father's home to recover. He returned to Chicago in July 1934 and met his end at the hands of police and federal agents who were informed of his whereabouts by Ana Cumpănaş (the owner of the brothel where Dillinger sought refuge at the time). On July 22, the police and Division of Investigation closed in on the Biograph Theater. Federal agents, led by Melvin Purvis, moved to arrest him as he left the theater. He pulled a weapon and attempted to flee but was shot three (four according to some historians) times and killed.

There is currently no league at this time

How the league works

Team scores over a predetermined number of weeks are accumulated in a table. The team with the highest cumulative score at the end of that period is crowned league champions and also wins an additional prize for its efforts.

Leagues vary in length, anywhere between 4-8 weeks. Each venue's league is independent of the next, as are the league prizes.

Your Team Name
During the league season it is advised that teams keep a consistent name from week-to-week in order for the Quizmaster to track scores. Teams playing under different names each week during a league will have their scores tallied separately.

Bye Weeks
Allowing flexibility, each venue grants so many bye weeks during its league. Under this rule, a team is allowed to miss so many weeks knowing they can still compete in the league. In the event that a team is present for the entire duration of the league their weakest scores are subtracted...

For example, over the course of an eight week league all team's are granted two bye weeks. If they miss two weeks they effectively score zero in their absence - but all team's will be judged on their six best results from the eight weeks of league play.

*Overall Score vs "Best Score"
The league table indicates each team's overall score and best score. Ultimately, the best score is all that matters as this score accounts for the bye week(s) allowed in the league. In some cases the overall score and best score may be the same depending on whether that team has missed a week (or more) of play.
